Mr. Burns has advised thousands of employers on human resource and employment law during his thirty-five plus year career at the American Society of Employers. The American Society of Employers (ASE) is the sixth largest employers association in the country with over 122 years of service to Michigan employers.  Mr. Burns’ presently serves as Executive Vice President, American Society of Employers and President, HR Management Group, Inc. ASE’s for-profit subsidiary.
 
The HR Management Group, Inc. delivers human resource consulting and support services.  Many of its programs and services were developed and implemented by Mr. Burns starting in the early 1990’s. Mr. Burns is a licensed attorney and private investigator in the State of Michigan. His areas of expertise include employment law, policy and handbook development, compensation, affirmative action and EEO. He is in-house legal counsel to ASE on matters of non-profit governance and its vendor and supplier relations.
 
Mr. Burns received a B.S.  Degree from Western Michigan University in 1982 and his J.D. Degree from the Detroit College of Law in 1987 and was a Certified Compensation Profession designation in 2008-2011.
 
Mr. Burns also served on the Southeastern Michigan Industry Liaison Group Planning Committee since its reinception in the early 1990’s and was its Chair in 1999.
